Strong Material, Strict Installation Rules
Fiber cement earns its place on homes in Terrace Park, OH for good reasons. Made from cement, sand, and cellulose fiber, it will not burn, will not feed termites, will not rot, and shrugs off hail that would dent other claddings. The catch is that it is unforgiving of sloppy work. Boards that are cut and left unsealed absorb water at the edges. Boards installed touching soil or roof shingles stay damp. Nails driven wrongly crack a material that cannot bend. EverGuard Roofing builds its process around avoiding exactly these mistakes, so the performance listed on the box shows up on your walls.
The Usual Reasons Fiber Cement Fails
Trouble traces back to a short list of installation shortcuts: raw edges, missing clearances, and bad fastening. They are invisible on installation day. Over several seasons the boards swell, paint lifts, edges crumble, and water works into the wall behind. By the time the damage is obvious, the sheathing may need repair too. Installing correctly the first time on your Terrace Park, OH home costs far less than correcting a failed installation later.
Our Fiber Cement Process
Check the Wall
We make sure the sheathing is sound and the weather barrier is continuous, then verify flashing at windows, doors, rooflines, and low points before any boards are opened.
Lay Out the Gaps
Clearances at grade, roof intersections, and transitions are measured and marked in advance so they are set deliberately instead of improvised.
Prime Every Cut
Each board cut on site gets primer on the exposed edge before installation. It is a standard step for every board, every time.
Fasten Correctly
We follow the manufacturer's fastening instructions for your product, including nail type, length, spacing, and distance from edges, so boards stay intact and warranties stay valid.
Seal Details
Joints and penetrations are finished with the right paintable sealant for fiber cement, never with caulks that will not hold a finish.
What Sets Our Work Apart
Priming is never skipped: Unsealed cut edges cause a large share of early failures, so we treat priming as non-negotiable.
We measure the gaps: Clearances are checked against the manufacturer's numbers before siding goes up.
Fastening follows the spec: Our crews use the specified nails and spacing for your exact board, avoiding cracks and protecting your coverage.
Sealants that suit the board: We choose caulks recommended for fiber cement so paint adheres and joints stay watertight.
Crews that know the product: Our team includes installers who completed manufacturer fiber cement training, which adds product-specific knowledge to general building skills.
Homeowner Questions
The boards cost more and are heavier and slower to install, since they need cutting precautions and priming. In return, you get superior fire resistance, impact toughness, and a longer service life, which is why many Terrace Park, OH homeowners find it worth the investment.
Yes. Paint protects the boards from moisture. Primed boards need a finish coat, while factory-finished options arrive coated and typically come with their own finish warranty.
Heavy, around two to three times vinyl per square foot. That calls for more careful handling and is why experienced installers matter.
It can, because the boards are rigid. If we see signs of settling or movement during the assessment, we discuss them and recommend fixes before installation.
Very good. It is non-combustible and accepted by building codes as a fire-resistant material, which is why it is common in regions with wildfire exposure.
A little longer than vinyl for the same wall, because of board weight, priming, and stricter fastening requirements. We set expectations on timing before work starts.
